About

The mission of Geo-Crusaders is to create awareness about the environment and its degradation and how to sustain a healthy environment. The society organizes various awareness campaigns, cleanliness drives, plantation drives, field visits, and activities like restoration work of Sanjay Van, Sultan Garhi Tomb, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. Other key activities have been participation in the Asian water birds census, in Delhi. The society also observes various environmental days like World Environment Day, Earth Day, International Wetlands Day, World Biodiversity Day, World Ozone Day, Wildlife Week, etc apart from other mainstream awareness campaigns. The society has been consistently organizing various International and National conferences and seminars to create environmental awareness.

1. Seminars
⦁    An International Seminar was conducted on October 12, 2023, in collaboration with 
            NSS-PGDAV (M) College on the occasion of “World E-waste Day.” The speaker of the
            event was Miss Nora Krenmayr, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, 
            Vienna, Austria, underlined the importance of e-waste management by presenting an
            informative session to students.
⦁    A one-day national seminar on the occasion of the “International Day of Forests” was conducted to provide students with the crucial role of forests in our lives on March 21, 2024. The speaker of the event was Dr. Richa Agarwal Malik, University of Delhi.
⦁    On the occasion of “World Wetlands Day,” a one-day seminar was conducted to highlight the significance of wetlands for maintaining our environment on February 2, 2024. The speaker of the event was Dr. Gaurav Kumar, University of Delhi.
⦁    A one-day national seminar was organized on the occasion of “National Pollution Control Day” to highlight the adverse effects of pollution on December 2, 2023. The speaker of the event was Mr. Prabhat Kumar, University of Delhi.
⦁    A one-day national seminar on “International Day For Preventing The Exploitation Of The Environment In War And Armed Conflict” was conducted on November 7, 2023. The speaker of the event was Ms. Jyotirupa Devi, University of Delhi. The students were shown documentaries on this occasion.
⦁    A one-day national seminar on the occasion of “International Day Against Climate Change” was conducted on October 26, 2023, to highlight the rising issue of climate change. The speaker of the event was Dr. Sangeeta Bansal, University of Delhi.

2. Workshops
⦁    A three-day national seminar cum workshop on the theme of “Environmental Awareness” was held from April 18 to April 20, 2024, to underline the importance of youth activism among students. The speakers of the event were Dr. Kuldeep Sharma, Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur, and Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Gautam Buddha University, Uttar Pradesh.
⦁    A workshop on “Sustainability Courses for Climate Change Careers” in collaboration with Lights was conducted on February 21, 2024, to provide career prospects to students in green jobs. The speakers of the event were Prof. Dora Marinova, Dr. Sulagna Chattopadhya, and Dr. Monica Singhania.
⦁    A visit to Convention Hall, ViceRegal Lodge, to attend a “U75: Net-Zero Regional Workshop for the University Campus” on November 7, 2023. The emphasis was on the carbon-free future and the significant role of the net-zero campus in achieving this.

3. “Campus Bird Count” was organized on February 16, 2024, in collaboration with E-bird India, which provided valuable insights into the avian biodiversity of our campus. A total of 11 bird species were identified during this program at the college campus.

4. A Field Visit to “Sanjay Van” was organized on November 25, 2023, with the participation of over 100 students. The students spotted multiple bird species and identified the diverse flora of the Sanjay Van ecosystem. The resource guide also informed the students about the design of rafters and water sources.

5. A “Cleanliness Drive” was organized on November 4, 2023, to promote a clean and eco-friendly environment on the college campus.
