Jyoti is keenly interested in the interface of Literature and art and is pursuing her doctoral research in the field of contemporary veteran women artists and writers. She is committed to issues of representation of women in electronic media and visual arts. She has been actively involved in gender sensitization efforts and development programs.

Jyoti has been involved in gender sensitization efforts and development programs. She was a part of Project Jagriti, an endeavour to spread digital literacy and give away smart phones to women from marginalized sections to help get their businesses online. As part of the project, she went to five villages on the outskirts of Barmer, Rajasthan during the pandemic and gave digital literacy sessions to more than 200 women artisans specialising in applique and embroidery. She also gifted smart phones to some of these artisans.
